ROBERT J. DICELLO, ESQ.

The founding member of The DiCello Firm, Robert J. DiCello went to college at John Carroll University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude in 1966. While working as a safety director for US Steel, Corp., he attended the Cleveland Marshall Law School at night. Mr. DiCello was published in the Cleveland Marshall Law Review in 1969.

In 1971, Robert graduated from law school, receiving the degree of Juris Doctorate. He was admitted to the Ohio State Bar Association that same year. Shortly thereafter, Mr. DiCello served as Assistant Prosecutor for the Office of the Lake County Prosecutor in Lake County, Ohio. In 1972 he was admitted to the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio and to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1977.

Robert lives in Kirtland, Hills, Ohio, with his wife, Christine. They have been married for 42 years. He has three children, Robert F. DiCello, Mark A. DiCello, and Anne (Thacker) and five grandchildren.

    PROFESSIONAL FOCUS

    Robert J. DiCello has enjoyed numerous professional distinctions. From 1972 until 1990 Mr. DiCello served as an Instructor in Law at the Lakeland Community College. Believing that everyone deserves representation - especially those who can not afford it - he became a founding member and former Chairman of the Lake County Public Defender Commission. Mr. DiCello is also a member of The Lake County Bar Association; The Ohio State Bar Association; The Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and The Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers.

    In 2001, Mr. DiCello (and The DiCello Firm) were awarded an AV rating in Martindale-Hubbell. The AV rating is awarded by lawyers to lawyers and law firms in recognition of their expertise, integrity, and overall professional excellence.

    In 2002, Mr. DiCello was named to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. This organization is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts, awards and settlements.

    In 2003, Mr. DiCello was elected by his peers to be the President of the Lake County Bar Association. During his one year tenure, Mr. DiCello worked with the local judiciary to revise the local rules of court. This project was successfully completed, and the new local rules are now operational with the court.

    In 2005, having experience in class action litigation, Mr. DiCello (and The DiCello Firm) joined with two other prominent Ohio law firms to participate in the VIOXX litigation. Since then, Mr. DiCello has been a co-leader of more than twenty-five VIOXX cases filed in Federal Court.

    PUBLICATIONS / SPEAKING

    Robert J . DiCello writes a bi-weekly column and discusses various aspects of Probate Law in the Lake County News Herald. Mr. DiCello also gives seminars related to tort law, personal injury litigation and estate administration. His work as a lecturer and speaker has been presented by the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Lake County Bar Association, and the Ohio State Bar Association.
